For decades, I dreamed of owning a sailboat and exploring the world. I taught myself to sail, devoured books, took classes, watched videos, and spent as much time on the water as I could. Each month, I looked forward to Sail and Passagemaker magazines, pouring over every article as if they were roadmaps to a life I hadn’t yet begun.

My first boat was a humble Catalina 22 on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia — a boat I purchased from Buena Vista Pictures (Disney) after it appeared in the film What About Bob? with Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss.

NAVOPLAN came out of that same itch to be better prepared: what if the knowledge, checklists, planning, and communication lived together in one place designed for cruisers? That idea matured into a service focused on safer passages—from vessel and crew readiness, to structured passage planning, to digital float plans and monitored tracking.
